New
patient hoist donated by League of Friends
Torbay Hospital is to benefit from a new hoist to assist with moving
patients, thanks to a donation of £4,000 from the League of Friends.
The hoist which will be used in Outpatients, day surgery and the eye
clinic will be significant in helping those who have to move people
with restricted mobility. It has many uses and can be used to
assist with the transfer of patients to and from beds, chairs,
toilet or floor.
Christine Hinchliffe, Outpatients Sister, said: “This hoist will
make a real difference to patients and those caring for them. As it
is mobile it can be wheeled into position quickly and used in
multiple locations. For staff it means that they are able to move
patients safely, without putting themselves or the patient at risk.
The advantage to patients is that we can transfer them from place to
another easily and efficiently, and with respect and dignity. We
are very grateful to the League of Friends for raising the funds and
donating such a valuable resource to the hospital.”
David Hall, President of the Torbay’s League of Friends, said: “The
League is delighted to have supported the hospital once more.
Today’s demonstration of the mobile hoist has shown it will be a
real asset across a number of treatment areas and teams.”
